Paris Hillsong Church Rising Fast

17 July 2006

As the capital of Europe's first self-declared secularist nation, Paris may seem an unlikely venue for a new and growing church.

Nobody's mentioned that, though, to the leaders of the new branch of the Hillsong Church, London in Paris.

Pastor Brendan White and his emerging team have seen the church grow from nothing to more than 800 people in regular Friday night attendance, in under a year.

Brendan, who is on staff with the Hillsong Church London, is committed to seeing the church reach its maximum potential. He believes God wants to make a statement to France, about what he can do in this post-modern era.

Mal Fletcher recently spoke in the main services, both held on Friday evenings, for the second time.

He said afterwards: 'I believe that God is going to do something very significant through this church. Partly because it is in Paris and Europe needs to see that what has happened in other places can happen here.'

'God is not limited by secularism or humanism. The earth still belongs to him and he is reaching out in love to people everywhere.'

Pastor Gary Clarke, leader of the covering church Hillsong London, is committed to planting church in other regions of Europe over time.

'The dream is not to plant the Hillsong brand,' adds Mal, 'but to see strong, thriving local churches, that will inspire emerging leaders to step out in faith for their cities.'
