www.nextwaveonline.com News Winkie Pratney Needs Prayer 10 April 2007 Anyone who knows Mal Fletcher or the ministry of Next Wave International knows how much we treasure the friendship and ministry of Winkie Pratney of New Zealand. Some of you will have heard already that Winkie is in a coma, having received two emergency operations during a ministry trip to South Korea. His condition is described as stable, and there has been improvement in his condition, but he is still in urgent need of our prayers. God has been very faithful in orchestrating a brilliant medical team to care for Winkie and expressions of prayer and financial support for the Pratney family (wife Fae and son William) have been coming in from around the world. Mal recently ministered again with Winkie at a leadership event in the UK, and interviewed him for a soon-to-be-released TV programme. Mal says, 'There are very few men of whom I can say, as I can of Winkie, "This man is a unique gift to the worldwide Body of Christ."' 'I've known my friend Winkie since the 80s; I heard him speak for the first time in the late 70s.' 'When I led Youth Alive Australia, Winkie was a real encouragement. When Davina and I took the risk of launching our mission to Europe, Winkie came on the journey, often flying over to speak at our major European leadership networks and training schools.' 'Our own children are young adults now, and they've known many of the most reputable Christian leaders of our time. But they will tell you -- Winkie is special.' 'I ask all of our friends and partners to pray with urgency for Winkie's recovery. So many have been touched by his many books and by his teaching through the years. I would also appeal to pastors to consider making a donation toward the considerable medical expenses involved.' You can find all the updated details on Winkie's condition by reading a special blog.
