Ben Kinsella, the brother of a popular soap-star, died in an unprovoked attack on the street. Ironically, Ben had written a letter to Prime Minister Gordon Brown calling for more help for parents and tougher measures to halt this growing menace. The letter began: 'Youth violence hits deadly peak. When will it stop?' Ben suggested a key factor was the lack of respect and trust between parents and children.
