Kiev Churches Come Together For Breakthrough

23 November 2001

'We really broke some major new ground here,' said Mal Fletcher on his return from a two day visit to Kiev. The major churches of the city came together for the New Generation Conference, a first for this once communist city.

Over 2000 people attended the first night meeting, with 300 pastors and leaders returning to hear Mal speak the next day on generational ministry. The response to Mal's teaching was outstanding, from both 'new' churches and more established denominational groups alike.

Mal said later: 'What was significant was that everybody was hungry for help in breaking down walls between the church and the city, even though leaders were obviously at different points along the road to becoming truly contemporary and prophetic.'

The conference was born out of the vision of an Australian, Judy Sculley, who is doing an outstanding job of bringing generational vision to churches in this city and nation. Judy's work has broken new ground in many respects. She has planted a church, launched youth ministries and basically raised the standard of new generational ministry across the nation.

'Judy needs all our prayers and support,' says Mal. 'Her work is frontline work and deserves every bit of help, including financial help, we can give.'

Mal has been asked back to speak at the Hillsong Kiev conference in 2002.
