www.nextwaveonline.com News SLC2013: Special Accouncement 04 February 2013 It was announced today that the Strategic Leadership Consultation, Next Wave's unique forum for church network leaders, will be placed on hiatus for 2013. Normally held in Spain in May, the event has been a highlight for many church network leaders for the past 15 years. It has consistently exposed church leaders to high-level, global thinkers and activists who've brought new insights into the opportunities facing churches and the cities they serve. In a special letter to regular SLC invitees across Europe (and the world), which was released today, NWI's Director, Mal Fletcher explained the reasons for placing the event on hold for 2013. Here is an extract from the letter: After more than a year of prayer and evaluation - and speaking with key advisors - I have decided to place SLC on hiatus for one year in 2013. At present, this applies only to 2013, to allow us space to pray and plan for the future. I've always tried to approach the planning of SLC, with God's help, in a very strategic way. This means constantly asking important and sometimes difficult questions and it requires flexibility and a willingness to change - with all the mixed emotions that involves. For 15 years, SLC has provided unique content for thoughtful leaders who want to pursue influence, so that we can begin to reshape Europe from the base of local church. As I speak to European churches and leadership events, I am convinced that the content SLC provides is needed now more than ever! (Your feedback is evidence of that.) However, the vehicle through which we bring the content may need to be tweaked. That's the purpose for this one year hiatus. I will keep you informed about 2014. Next Wave and 2020Plus are also developing new strategies to take your leadership to another level. These don't replace SLC, but include: Strategic Think Tank Days: 1-day super-intensives; invitation-only with key experts Social Tsunami Euro Tour(s): European tour (autumn 2013) featuring 1-day intensives for pastors and teams on overcoming major social change. 20.2020Project: Building bridges of trust with top-tier civic leaders, on behalf of great churches. (Continuing/launching this year in Bristol, Norwich, Manchester, Bournemouth, Lisbon, Berlin and in Australia. New cities are being added.) We HUGELY value your support for SLC's future! After issuing this release, Mal said that he hoped that leaders who attend SLC would send feedback and suggestions for the future. 'I remain more committed than ever to seeing churches play their rightful role as the "city on a hill" for the communities they serve,' he added. 'These are exciting times, but in the midst of so many conflicting messages, we will need to invest in long-term, strategic thinking if we're to impact the cities we serve.' www.nextwaveonline.com |
