www.nextwaveonline.com News 1200 At Hillsong Leaders Day in London 17 May 2013 What do you get when you combine 1200 highly motivated leaders, with world-class teaching on future social change? You get the Hillsong London Leaders' Day in May, with guest, Social Futurist Mal Fletcher. The event, hosted by Gary and Cathy Clarke, leaders of Hillsong London Church, brought together leaders from every area of this rapidly growing church, plus their teams, for a day of intensive leadership input and inspiration. Mal's session was on "The Social Tsunami" - a very positive look at the wave of major social change emerging in the wake of the technological revolution. The session, combining extensive research with media and Mal's fast-paced delivery, was very well received. 'I always consider it an honour to teach church leaders, no matter how big the church,' Mal said after the session. 'Being involved at this level with Hillsong is special for me.' 'It's been a few years since I last addressed leaders in Hillsong London and it's wonderful to see how big the leadership base has grown in a short time,' Mal and his wife Davina have been friends of Hillsong Church since the mid-1980s, shortly after Pastor Brian Houston started the original church in the Hills area west of Sydney. 'The first time I spoke for Pastor Brian Houston, his church was around 300 people strong,' Mal adds. 'It's just a little bigger than that today, worldwide!' Other sessions at the London Leaders' Day featured Stephen Furtik, from South Carolina and Gary Clarke, who addressed the future strategy for the church as a whole.
