Tenacious Faith!

Psalm 16:8 'I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.' (NIV)
I once invited the renowned evangelist Reinhard Bonnke to speak to a group of significant church leaders from across Europe. He flew from the USA to Spain to speak for just two hours to ninety hand-picked leaders. He shared about some of his own experiences, starting out as a missionary in Africa, and how God supernaturally led him into a ministry of mass evangelism and healing. At one point, he made this remark: 'You know, we hear a lot about the gifts of the Holy Spirit – and I believe in them all. But just as powerful as any of these gifts in our ministry has been the gift of perserverance.' Bonnke had found that nothing much happens in the work of the Lord without an attitude of tenacious, persistent faith – an attitude that refuses to give up on a God idea, no matter how big the opposition. One of the things that produces and encourages a tenacious faith is the knowledge that God is with us. God doesn't give up on us just because we've tried something and been less than a roaring success at the first attempt. Even in our times of mixed success, or even outright failure, he reminds us, as he did David the Psalmist, that he is with us. If we're giving our best for him, the knowledge that we meet with God's approval will give us the courage to persevere.
Prayer: 'Father God, thanks for being with me no matter what. Help me to perservere in what I'm doing for you, knowing that you are right beside me all the way.'
