Making The Most Of Your Time…

24 April 2024

Ephesians 5:15-16 'Be very careful, then, how you live-- not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.'(NIV)

Time is our most valuable resource, our most precious commodity. When we make the most of our time we attract God's smile and position our lives for success. To do that, we must live as if we are accountable for our time. That starts with dealing with distractions. Sometimes, we meet people who want to waste our time. They seek our counsel or help with situations that they're not really willing to resolve. If we let them, they'll keep coming back to receive sympathy or to hear the same advice time and again. Negative emotions can also be powerful time wasters: emotions like guilt, or those that come from insecurity or a sense of failure or an overly competitive attitude. Another time waster is a failure to identify when we're likely to perform at our best. Some people work at their peak first thing in the morning, for others it's late at night. Knowing when you're working best means you can structure your day to get the difficult jobs out of the way at your peak times. Each achievement motivates for the next challenge. Another great motivator is finishing each task at a point where you can re-start easily tomorrow. If you finish on a high, you can re-start with a high level of motivation! Guard your time – it won't last forever…

Prayer: 'Lord, help me to be a good steward of time, using it wisely and investing it well in things that really count. Help me to establish disciplines even today that will help lift my performance!'
