Getting A New Start
16 February 2019
Acts 3:4 'Then Peter said, 'Look at us!' So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.'
Several things happened in this man's experience that brought him healing and a new start in life. The first thing he did was to see something -- he noticed the apostles as they made their way into the temple. Many people go through life with their eyes closed, so that when God is setting them up for blessing they can't even see it coming. You need to keep your eyes open, to expect great things to happen everyday. Then, we read that he asked. Sometimes, the only thing that stands between you and God's next great work in your life is pride, an unwillingness to admit that there might be more for you. Don't let yourself become comfortable with your current level of experience, keep stretching and asking for more. The man also looked: he didn't just see in a general sense, he focused on something in particular. What's more, he had an attitude of expectation. Yes, he did get more than he bargained for, but he was reaching out for something.
Prayer: 'Lord, help me to be like this man, ready to receive what you want to do in my life. Help me to have my eyes open in expectation, to keep reaching out for more and when you give me a new opportunity to jump at it.'
