Vision vs Goals
17 November 2017
Mark 8:35 'For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it.'
When God begins to reveal his vision for your life, it will go way beyond your own goals. Vision is based on revelation but goals are based on personal motivation. Goals are good servants – if we submit them to God's greater vision. Vision is self-denying, unlike many of our goals. The world is hungry for what it calls 'self-actualization'. People set their goals based primarily on reaching their personal potential. And God definitely wants us to fulfill all the great design potential built into each of us. But godly vision involves self-denial. Jesus taught that to take up our lives we must lay then down. We must be willing to live for something that's bigger than we are, something that lives on even when we die.
Prayer: 'God, help me today to seek out the needs of others, so that I can come closer to understanding and living out your great vision for my life.'
