Is Britain becoming a nation of wimps?

This was the question put to Mal Fletcher during an interview this week with BBC Radio.

The same question might be asked of other industrialized countries. Is modern society robbing us of our resilience? Are we less robust than our forebears in the face of unexpected circumstances of natural events?
