Hillsong Amsterdam is Thriving
Hillsong Church, Amsterdam is only three years old, but it is triving.
Mal Fletcher recently visited and was highly impressed by the passion, creativity and thoughtfulness of the people who gather from across the city and beyond.
Situated near the centre of one of Europe's most vibrant cities, the church was pioneered by Pastors Richard and Debbie Vanderkolk, who were sent from Hillsong Church, London.
Mal spoke for the church's three Sunday services. The largest of them saw its second ever highest attendance and the response the presentations was outstanding. At present, around 800 different people attend Sunday services, but the growth is starting to gather momentum.
(A week after Mal's visit, the church launched into a fourth weekly Sunday service.)
After the visit, Mal said: 'I've been to Amsterdam perhaps 10-12 times over the years. We used to run fairly large youth outreach events here a decade or more ago. A lot of young people came to Christ, but few churches could take them further.'
'Our goal back then was also to encourage contemporary values and styles within the local churches. I used to publicly predict that churches like this would one day find their way to the Dutch capital. Now, Hillsong Amsterdam is fulfilling that prediction!'
'It's such a great church to work with and I'm very impressed with what Richard and Debbie and their team have established in such a short time.'

Mal, I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for your wisdom & grace in writing the article on why Christian leaders sometimes fail. I'm sure it has helped many people to be able to answer questions from others...
